peer support & resources

process

We offer free peer support via talk, text, social media messaging, email, Skype, or FaceTime. However the first responder wants to communicate, we are here to help them through whatever situation they’re going through. When the first responder seeking help contacts us, they will be speaking with another first responder. We believe this is extremely important to a smooth flowing conversation that doesn’t require further explanation from the first responder calling in. There is nothing more relieving than speaking with someone who understands every aspect of the job.

respect privacy

We also provide complete anonymity. What is shared with us in confidence, stays with us (minus a claim to hurt one’s self or others, in which case we must report to higher authorities). No one will ever have to worry about what they say or what they’re going through getting back to anyone they work with. We are here for the one seeking help, and we will do whatever we need to in order to maintain that confidentiality.

our goal

Secondly, we offer help for first responders seeking professional resources, whether that’s counseling or inpatient treatment. Our goal is to give every first responder seeking help the most reasons to say, YES!

professional counseling

What we offer for professional counseling is twofold. First, we will locate a counselor for the first responder and make sure the counselor is going to be a good fit. When doing this, we try to find a counselor as close to them as we can. Secondly, we offer to pay for the first cycle of counseling sessions if the first responders insurance is not accepted or they cannot afford to pay for it out of pocket. We understand and live this life too, which means we understand that insurance is not always the most helpful in these types of situations.

inpatient treatment

What we offer for Inpatient Treatment is also twofold. First we will contact one of our trusted resources and see if they’re the best fit for the first responder seeking help. Secondly, we will help figure out any financial responsibilities. Sometimes the first responder’s insurance will cover a majority of the treatment, if not all of it. If the whole treatment is not covered and there’s a co-pay or insurance will not cover it, we can help cover those costs if they first responder is not able to.

treatment you deserve

We don’t want there to be any reason the first responder is unable to seek the help they deserve. So we won’t let finances or the inability to find a counselor or inpatient facility be one of those reasons. Professional help is very much needed in some cases. However, our goal with every first responder who comes to us, is to speak with them first and get a better understanding of what their needs are and how we can best meet those.
